All about the 16 Days South India with Elephanta Caves Tour.

An in depth journey through the Western and Southern part of India, where we will visit the Financial Capital of India, Mumbai to majestic Chennai, then we will continue on to the British influenced hill resort of Ooty and then to God’s Own Country Kerala where we will go to the old harbour city of Cochin and the pristine ambiance of Kumarakom among many other exciting places in this tour.

  1. Day 1 Arrive Chennai

    After arriving at Chennai International airport, kindly clear the immigration and visa formalities, and proceed to the arrival lounge through the green channel. Our representative will wait at the arrival with a placard in your name to greet you. Thereafter you will chauffeured to the hotel.

  2. Day 2 Chennai to Mahabalipuram (By Road) Enroute visit Kanchipuram

    In the morning we will visit to Chennai city where you will be taken on a visit to Kalakshetra.
    Later we will drive to Mahabalipuram, where on the way we will visit Kanchipuram which was an ancient capital of the Pallavas and is famous as a city of 1000 Temples and is also famous for its silk weavers, which settled around 400 years ago and has given it an enviable reputation.
    Later we will travel to Mahabalipuram, which was a flourishing port town of the Pallava rulers, a Dravidian dynasty that once ruled over the major portion of peninsular India.

  3. Day 3 Mahabalipuram

    After completing your breakfast we would go for sightseeing tour, where the Pallavas have created many marvellous monuments with sculptural panels, caves, monolithic Raths (Chariot) and Temples.

  4. Day 4 Mahabalipuram to Pondicherry (By Road)

    After completing your breakfast we will travel to Pondicherry, which is a medieval town of the French province, and has managed to preserve its French aura, from its delectable restaurants offering French cuisine to streets bearing French names. The grand boulevards make Pondicherry a richly cosmopolitan city. The day is free to take stroll in the street of this beautiful town.
    In the afternoon we will explore the heritage section of the city – the French Quarter. Private homes with white shutters and bright yellow facades bedecked with red bougainvillea, and bicycles parked outside, create a very Mediterranean feel. There are many exquisite heritage buildings that have been artfully converted into boutique hotels.

  5. Day 5 Pondicherry to Trichy (By Road) Enroute visit Thanjavur

    After completing your breakfast we will transfer to Trichy and on the way we will visit Thanjavur where we will visit to Brihadeeswarar temple, called the Big Temple. The 64. 8 Mt. tall vimanam is testimony to the engineering skill of the Cholas. Next we will visit to palace which is just 1 km away from Big Temple.

    Continue your journey to Trichy which is situated on the banks of the Cauvery River, and has a long history going back several centuries before the birth of Christ. The present-day city, has a blend of glorious past and acclaimed divinity through the famous Dravidian temples, which stands as a commercial and tourist hub of Tamil Nadu.

    We will visit Rock Fort which is a spectacular landmark of Trichy , Shiva temple and Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple which is famous for its superb sculpture, and is named after the elephant which is believed to have worshipped Lord Shiva here.

  6. Day 6 Trichy to Madurai (By Road)

    After completing your breakfast we will travel to Madurai which is Situated On The Banks Of The River Vaigai., reach Madurai and is a famous Temple Town, as well as Industrial City.
    In the afternoon we will visit Thiruparankundram Lord Murugan Temple, Thirumalai Nayak Palace which was built By King Thirumalai Nayak In 1636 Ad which was designed By An Italian Architect And Served As The Residence Of The King & Koodal Alagar Temple.

  7. Day 7 Madurai

    In the Morning we will visit Madurai Meenakshi Temple.which is built In The Dravidian Style – One For Lord Shiva And The Other For His Spouse Meenakshi and the Temple Offers Lovely Kaleidoscopic Views.
    After completing your breakfast we will drive To Alagarkoil and visit The Vishnu Temple, Later on we will drive uphill for 5 mins to Pazhamudircholai Lord Murugan Temple For The Darshan.

  8. Day 8 Madurai to Munnar (By Road)

    After completing your breakfast we will shift to Munnar,which is situated at the confluence of three mountain streams- Muthirapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. and is famous for its tea plantations, picture book towns, winding lanes and holiday facilities make this a popular resort town.

  9. Day 9 Munnar

    After completing your breakfast we will visit Eravikulam (Rajamalai) national Park, Anamudi Peak, Tata Tea Museum, Historical Church, International blossom Park, Headworks Dam and Spice Plantations. At the Afternoon there would be an optional Bicycle tour of Munnar.

  10. Day 10 Munnar to Thekkady (By Road)

    In the morning transfer to Thekkady which is hub to unending chains of hills and spice-scented plantations.It has one of the finest wildlife reserves in India and is spread across the entire district with picturesque plantations and hill towns.
    Later we will go on cruise on the Periyar Lake where you will be able to see a large variety of wildlife, that includes elephants, monkeys, deer, wild boar etc, and a lot of unique birds can also be spotted.

  11. Day 11 Thekkady to Kumarakom (By Road)

    After completing your breakfast we will travel to Kumarakom which is an unbelievably beautiful paradise of mangrove forests, emerald green paddy fields and coconut groves interspersed with enchanting waterways and canals.

  12. Day 12 Kumarakom Board Overnight Houseboat

    After completing your breakfast we will board overnight at a houseboat and sail through the beautiful backwaters of Kerala which is a world of serenity and wonderment. This large aquatic area is a vast network of lagoons, lakes, rivers and canals, and the people who live in this region have created their own distinct lifestyles. After lunch we will anchor the houseboat and then proceed for a village walks. After you finish exploring the village return to house boat for dinner and overnight stay.

  13. Day 13 Houseboat Cochin (By Road)

    After completing your breakfast shift to Cochin, which is a vibrant city situated on the south-west coast of the Indian peninsula and always had a strategic importance over the centuries.

  14. Day 14 Cochin

    In the morning we will proceed for Cochin sightseeing and start off by visiting the Dutch Palace at Mattancherry which is renowned for its wall murals depicting scenes from the Ramayana. Then we will visit The St. Francis Church, which is the oldest European church in India and Finally, we will visit the Willingdon Island, named after Lord Willingdon, which is also the headquarters of the Southern Naval Command of India.

  15. Day 15 Cochin to Mumbai (By Flight)

    In the Morning transfer to Cochin airport to board flight for Mumbai which is a city that offers a cosmopolitan and diverse lifestyle with a variety of food, entertainment and nightlife, available in a form and abundance comparable to that in other world capitals.
    In the Afternoon proceed for one hour excursion to Elephanta Island(closed on Mondays) a UNESCO World Heritage Site. which is famous for its great cave shrine, excavated in the sixth century, dating back to the period, when the island was known as Gharapuri, the Fortress City.

  16. Day 16 Mumbai Depart

    In the Morning proceed for sightseeing tour of Mumbai visiting Gateway of India, Prince of Wales Museum, Fish Aquarium, Jain Temple, and Hanging Garden on the slopes of Malabar Hills Among various famous tourist spots.
    Later in the evening as per your flight schedule we will shift to Mumbai International airport to board flight for onward destination with the sweet memories of India . Please allow a minimum of 2 ½ hours for flight check-in formalities at the airport.
